Who needs these qualifications?

All candidates who have taken the CIEH Level 2 Awards in Food Safety are recommended to take a refresher course three years after completion.

This course is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public.

Why is this training important?

Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplace conditions as well as the right systems and methods for safe activities. Nevertheless employees also have a vital part to play in the equation. These qualifications have been developed to raise awareness of key food safety issues and to provide employees with an induction to food hygiene, prior to undertaking the Level 2 Awards in Food Safety.

Who needs these qualifications?
The Level 1 Awards in Food Safety provide an ideal solution to staff induction training including:
• New employees with minimal prior food safety knowledge
• Employees handling low-risk or wrapped foods
• Front-of-house employees such as waiting or checkout staff
• Back-of-house employees such as kitchen porters or warehouse staff
• Employees speaking English as a second language
• Employees with special education needs

The Level 1 Awards are also suitable for employees for whom English is a second language or those with special needs.
